Testimonies

I started coming to Java about four years ago.  At that time, I had been going through a really tough time with anxiety and depression and had left my previous church because they had no youth programs, nothing I could fit into. As a new Christian, I felt lost because I didn’t know of any other church to go to.  I loved God but thought I was through with church, the only thing that ever brought me true peace.
Then, after about two weeks, someone in my chorus class at school invited me to a concert at a place called Jehovah Java.  I went, not expecting anything but a concert, and ended up getting so much more.
As soon as I walked through the door, I could feel how cool the atmosphere was.  I never knew people could have Christian things like that. One of the greatest things about Java is that kids, teens, and adults can sit around and just talk about life, and they often do.  Most times, the baristas at Java are talking to people about their problems and offering advice on how to fix them. Java is not just a coffee shop, it is a ministry, created by God and people who have a heart for hurting people.  My life has been dramatically changed because of Java and I know it has been a consistent place for teens to go whenever they had no other place to go and no matter what was going on at home. No matter when you come to Java, there is always an encouraging word and people who genuinely care about you, always willing to listen.  As a result I started going to Dayspring Church.  Though life has not been perfect, I have come closer to God and have had His peace through good times and bad.  Java was a great idea!

I am Cory’s mom and I would like to take this time to thank you for providing a place for my son to go to on Friday and Saturday nights. When he would tell me he was going to the “Java shop” I was relieved.  I was glad there was a safe place he could go instead of some of the “other” places kids around her would go to.  He told me how they had Christian music and it was a good place for kids to talk. From a mother’s perspective I was glad to know there was a place he could go.  I never had to worry about him on those nights.

I am writing on behalf of Pastor Tony and Julie Crawford of Dayspring Church as well as the entire congregation to express my sincere admiration of the work they are doing through their ministry.
Jehovah Java was a welcome addition to our business community downtown and a sincere loss when relocation of the church facilities occurred.  Not only did it bring a positive influence to the City, but also a real win to all of us who frequent the downtown area during lunch. I believe the new building, along with the new Java, will bring a much-needed service, as well as a beautiful church facility to the Bells Ferry corridor.  Cherokee County has been working hard to improve this corridor from Towne Lake Parkway to Highway 92 and I can’t think of a better addition to the community as the work continues.
I encourage those with the ability to move this project forward to look close at the benefits this ministry brings to the area and join others as we look forward to a visit to the new Java as they bridge the gap between the business community and Dayspring Church.
